The Humane Society of Chittenden County (HSCC) is gearing up for its largest fundraiser of the year, the 28th Annual Walk for the Animals & 5K Doggie Fun Run on Saturday, June 5th, 2022, at Burlington’s Battery Park. Participants may choose to complete a 1 mile walk or 5K fun run, with or without their canine companion. The event features a scenic lakeside route, prizes for Top Fundraisers, and a commemorative T-shirt for participants who raise $100 or more. The Walk & 5K is a great way to have fun, get some exercise, and spend quality time with fellow animal lovers, all while supporting a good cause.
Those interested in learning more about and registering for the event (or to make a donation in support of a participant) can do so at the official event website.
All proceeds from this event benefit HSCC’s many programs and services. In addition to rehoming 1,385 animals in 2021 alone, HSCC also offers low-cost spay/neuter and preventative veterinary care to community pets; runs humane education programs for children and adults; boards the pets of individuals and families in crisis; provides a year-round Emergency Pet Food Shelf; and is the only humane society in Vermont that employs a humane investigator who responds to reports of animal cruelty. Even sponsors include Best Friends Sponsors: Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists (BEVS), NorthCountry Federal Credit Union, Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman, and Pet Food Warehouse.
